“A spectacular stage experience that brings Back to the Future to life.”

I watched the Back to the Future musical on Wednesday, October, 2025, at 7 PM, at the Sydney Lyric Theatre.
My seat was on the far side of the stalls, the cheapest category — only $65 ($70 with fees) — and honestly, the view was much better than I expected.

The theatre was packed, but the atmosphere wasn’t heavy at all.
It felt fun, light, and full of excitement — the kind of musical where everyone is just there to enjoy themselves.

Performance & Stage Effects

The acting and singing were, of course, solid.
But what truly blew me away was the stage design and effects.
Some scenes were so impressive that I literally forgot I was watching a stage performance — it felt like stepping right into the movie.

Even though my English isn’t perfect and I couldn’t catch every line, it didn’t really matter.
The visual effects alone made the whole experience worth it.
And since the movie is so iconic, watching it beforehand makes the musical even more fun — you’ll recognize moments where the staging mirrors the film.

Seat, Price & Theatre Experience

For the price, my seat was incredible.
The view was wide, clear, and comfortable.
The theatre itself is spacious, easy to navigate, and surrounded by plenty of restaurants — perfect for making a full evening out of the experience.

What Wasn’t Perfect

There was a strong smell of alcohol coming from behind me, which gave me a headache during Act 2.
It wasn’t the theatre’s fault — more of a seat-luck situation — but still noticeable.
Thankfully it didn’t ruin the show, just a small discomfort.

Watching Back to the Future in English, right here in Sydney?!
The stage effects alone make it an unforgettable experience.
